This past weekend my girlfriend and I took the john boat out in our creek to do some fishing. Between the rain and the low tide, I figured we’d have a tough time catching anything, but we rigged up a DOA shrimp and gave it a try.
Lauren told me that she’d gotten a few bites but nothing would hold on. I asked her if she’d been setting the hook and she looked at me with a blank face. Out of everything that I told her to do, I forgot to explain the hole setting-the-hook deal. Once she grasped that small/important piece of advice, she was good to go. Within five minutes, she’d landed a nice 16″ spotted sea trout.
It was starting to get dark, so we headed back to the house, but for the little amount of time that we fished, the bad weather, and the dead-low tide, I’d say that we had a pretty good outing.
